Time for a Maté break? I think so./Churro Hunt/Chips Hunt

Wednesday 09/06:
El Puma was really good yesterday, this guy mario (who it turns out, is fluent in english and i havent known that this whole time!) said when we were done with the usual birds he would take us over to the tree conversation area because none of us have seen that and we can help out there for a bit. We asked what the rats were for and it turns out theyre food for the big cats and the owls. and the skanky birds are food for the big cats too. anyway so after we were done and had had a little chat with the parrot that speaks (he knows says hello thnaks to me and Lucy!!) we walked over to the tree bit and it was really nice and pretty and we met Oscar and Diego (cool name!) and we planted little sprouts of trees into littlepots so they can grow bigger and we were really quick and amazing and Oscar came out with four chairs and was like, its break time, and we sat around and drank Maté and he found out we like it with sugar but he didnt have any so he was like tomorrow? with sugar ? and we were like YES. He then took us over the other side of wehre we had been and let us plant our own big tree as a memory of when we went and we were like aww.. <3 you! and then he gave us a bag ful of mandarins because they have loads. i feel a bit more useful in the tree bit and although cleaning up poo is im sure VERY useful to the animal area its not the most fun ive ever had so we decided to come back on thursday (today). When i got back Kailtin was already home from teaching and i ate lunch (pasta) and bread and me and kaitlin deicded to go buy chips even though we werent hungry and didnt need them we were just craving them but everywhere was closed because of siesta so we settled for crisps and chocolate. Kailtin had been on a Churro hunt on the way home from school and went into four bakeries and NO ONE had churros it was a disgrace! so we were really upset about that and we generally bummed and watched TV til dinner and then after we ate, around ten, we decided the chips place would be open and even though we still werent hungry we went and got chips anyway in some very unco-ordinated outfits due to bumming around the house. we got back and ate the chips with crap loads of mayonaise and they were muy bien. i then needed something sweet for pudding so i finished off my chocolate and ate some dulce de leche straight from the pot.
you know youre getting truely fat when a summary of your day basically is just a description of everything you ate/how you came to get everything you ate.

Thursday 10/06:
Today after me and lucy had finished my usual animals we went over to the tree place and did the planting of the little sprouts again and we had a good old gossip about men and how rubbish they are and Lucy who doesnt speak any spanish went "Los Manos!" thinking she was saying Men!! when actually she was saying Hands! and Oscar got very confused and we laughed lots and i told her what shed actually said haha. after about half an hour Oscar brought us some chairs over again and was like its Maté time. and we were like ALRIGHT and bless his little cotton socks he brought us over a cup of sugar and a tray of BISCUITS and i thought they were their biscuits and that they were going to sit with us but they went back to work and i was like AW youre so SWEET this is what i call volunteering! haha. poor lucy cant eat wheat though so she couldnt eat the biscuits but i managed to eat enough for the both of us and we explained to Oscar after that she wasnt being rude she just cant eat the biscuits because they have wheat in them. after about twenty minutes oscar found the shell/casing type thing of Sicadas that they leave behind on trees when they shed their skin and then they can fly. he found two and put them in our hands and i was just saying "i dont know how to put this down wihtout being rude but ITS REALLY FREAKING ME OUT" and he got all excited about shwoing us bugs and when lucy went to the toilet they found a TARANTULA and were like oooo volunteer girl come over hereee so i went over thinking it was just more bug cases and they were like LOOK HOW EXCITING and i did a little spiders-really-freak-me-out-dance and they kept trying to bring it closer being classic boys and not realising that i was being a scaredy cat. eventually after a lot of deep breathing i did get quite close and when lucy came back i was like LOOK THEYVE GOT A TARANTULA and she got freaked out too. then, spurred on by both of our freaky spider dances they dug out a sicada that was hibernating and Oscar held it on his hand and it did a little "why the hell have you taken me out of hibernation" dance. and then they gave it a worm to eat and put it on the ground again. after that we went back towork planting our little sprouts and back to bitching about men and i found a little red dragonfly and oscar picked it up and showed it to us. then the others came and they had been sorting vegetables to feed animals and Patricia had let them stroke a leapord.. jealous!! as tomorrow is my last day there (im going to do the refuge in my last week as theres no one there and four of us with the animals) im going to ask if i can stroke the leapord!!
When i got back i ate lunch (pasta from last nights dinner) and Kaitlin had bought CHURROS so i ate two of those and had a siesta and i slept for too long again so i doubt il sleep well tonight but its the last time i have to get up stupid early so its all good in the hood. just before my siesta i ate banana with dulce de leche.

luckily i wont be able to afford to eat in greece so hopefully il come back regular size not the size of a pregnant cow.

This weekend Kaitlin is going to BA so im not really sure what im going to do without my churro buddy. I think on saturday im going horse riding with Vero´s aunty or something!

Love,
Bethy x
